I would hate to have to change into special biking shoes every time I ride my bike, so going with so-called "clipless" pedals isn't an option for me. (Oddly, "clipless" pedals are tiny and have clips that grab onto cleats on the bottoms of special stiff shoes...you even call it "clipping in". The "clipless" refers to "no toe clip", the part that comes around over top of your shoe in the photo).

Wouldn't it be great if someone made a platform that clips into the pedal, that lets you ride (with a toe clip) with normal shoes...and if you want to ride with special biking shoes you just un-clip the platform, and voila!

Well, such a product exists. Unfortunately, they're about a centimeter too short for my shoes, even at their maximum length adjustment. I'll probably try to modify them somehow. It's really a pity, since they could have been designed to allow a lot more length, with no down-side.

You can also see in this photo that I sanded off the logos from the crank arm. The flash photo makes it look worse than it looks in real life---really it just looks like a satin finish rather than a shiny finish.
